Our Osteopaths

Fiona Laryn
Osteopath D.O. MSc. Ost.
Director Queenstown & Wanaka

My journey into Osteopathic Medicine began with five years of full-time study at the International College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) in Milan, Italy where I obtained my D.O. Followed by Master of Science in Osteopathy at the University of Surrey in London.

I see a wide range of patients in the clinic, ranging from infants to the elderly with everything from sports injuries and muscular-skeletal problems to more complex cases of ongoing chronic pain involving the nervous system and and internal organ disfunction. I work closely with various medical specialists to ensure patients obtain full recovery and their treatment plan is clear.

When not in the clinic you can find me snowboarding, rock climbing or out on the lake paddle boarding.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to end up in a career that would be different every day and involve interaction with many interesting people. This combined with my early interest in Science and in particular, the function of the human body influenced my decision to become an Osteopath.

During my studies, I completed my Master’s thesis by analysing changes in fall and fall-related fracture rates of New Zealand elderly in the hope of guiding future prevention strategies for such injuries. During my clinical practice I have developed a special interest in treating short and long term neck related issues and headaches in adults.

My family has also been involved in the early childhood industry for the majority of my life and I join them in running WanaExcel, an early educational facility in Wanaka.

Bianca Coutts
Osteopath B.App. Sci.,  M.Ost.
Available in Queenstown

I come from a family of health care practitioners so it was inevitable I would take a similar path. Osteopathy appealed to me because of the holistic, patient-centred approach that I saw.

My training consisted of five years of fulltime study at Unitec in Auckland, coming out of this with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Osteopathy.

In my clinical practice I see a large range of patients coming through the doors including athletes, school children, farmers and elderly.

I have a strong interest in sports and performance with a personal background in soccer, tennis and showjumping. I enjoy helping people get back up and running following injury and working with them to ensure prevention in the future.

I am always working to further my skills through attending courses and collaboration with both osteopaths and other health care professionals and specialists.

Osteopath B.App. Sci.,  M.Ost.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a keen interest in the human body and optimising human health, fitness, and performance. Therefore, osteopathy was a perfect career choice for me.

I have completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (human biology) and Master of Osteopathy. I am particularly interested in fitness, exercise and movement, sleep, supplementation, breathing, stress control, and nutrition. I will apply this knowledge along with the practical skills learned to help restore normal pain-free function to affected areas.

I enjoy participating in a range of hobbies & sports, including mountain biking, snowboarding, surfing, trail running, weight training and CrossFit to maintain both physical and mental health and to practice what I preach.

Cedric Jallet
Osteopath D.O. Bsc.(Hons) Ost.
Dip. Acupuncture TCM
Western Medical Acupuncture

Available in Wanaka

Graduating from the European School of Osteopathy in 2002 and completing a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012, I have built a wealth of manual therapy experience. I work with a variety of patients from new born babies to the elderly using a wide range of treatment modalities including structural, functional, visceral and cranial osteopathy to suit every patient's unique needs. I am also qualified in Western Medical Acupuncture, postural stretching and kinesiotaping and incorporate these into my everyday practice.

Outside of the clinic, I have undertaken many years of martial art training and hold two black belts in Aikido and Kendo. I have a strong interest in functional movement in my daily training approach.

A resident in beautiful Aotearoa since 2013, I chose to settle in Wanaka where I can enjoy the mountains and pursue a ski guiding pathway, chasing powder as an assistant guide in snowcat and heliski operations.

I am fortunate to be very well travelled and as a result am fluent in a number of languages including English, French, Spanish and basic Japanese.

Originally from Austria, I trained at the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in the UK where I obtained my Master of Osteopathy.

During my studies I volunteered at the ESO’s women’s health clinic where I developed a special interest in women's health – including pregnancy and post-partum care. I completed a variety of post-graduate courses, with a special focus on visceral (organ) manipulation and the effects of organs on the musculoskeletal system. Jaw problems, neck pain, and headaches are also fields of great interest. I firmly believe in finding the source of the pain rather than just treating the symptoms in order to achieve long-lasting results.

I enjoy treating a wide range of people, using a variety of techniques from gentle fascial release, cranial and visceral techniques, to structural adjustments in order to facilitate healing.

In my spare time I follow my biggest passion – hiking – with the determination to climb every mountain between Milford and Wanaka. On quieter days I practice yoga, mindfulness and meditation.

Western Medical Acupuncture

Available in Wanaka

A New Zealand trained Osteopath and Western Medical Acupuncturist, I completed my Bachelors in Human Biology (BAppSci) and Masters of Osteopathy (M.Ost) at Unitec in Auckland.

I enjoy the challenge of problem-solving each case, which includes not only looking at the area of discomfort but also investigating whole body function and daily habits to determine the true cause of the issue. I’m a true believer in manual therapy and have experienced first-hand how it improves the overall quality of life through pain relief, increased movement, and vitality.

I spent a year working with the Warriors rugby league team in Auckland. I’m also passionate about treating those who suffer from headaches, jaw pain, neck and shoulder dysfunction as well as women’s health- with a particular focus on treating pregnant and postpartum women.

My partner Chris and I run Rad Skate School here in Wanaka: teaching both children and adults how to skateboard. I’m always up for an adventure, which is why I chose Wanaka as my new home. Hiking, mountain-biking, snow sports, water sports – you name it, I love it all.

I am originally from Japan, which is where I obtained my degree in Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Anma Massage Acupressure graduating from Oniki Medical School in 2010. I worked for several years in Tokyo before moving with my family to Queenstown.

I am particularly interested in treating viral, bacterial and fungal infections for people with compromised immunity, menstrual and menopause symptoms, breech babies, sports injuries both acute and chronic and mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.

When not working in the clinic I like to be with my wife and 2 daughters, cooking for friends or fishing on the lake.

Daisuke Hiratsuka
Acupuncturist & Shiatsu Massage Therapist

Erin MacDermott
Clinic Practice Manager

Health & wellness is my passion and I am thrilled to be working with such a talented team of health professionals.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management after attending the University of Massachusetts & The University of Hawaii. I furthered my education with a 1 year massage therapy qualification in Colorado and obtained a personal training certificate in Queenstown.

When not in the clinic you can find me with my dog Kaia hiking, snowboarding or paddle boarding.

Laura Randal
Osteopath BSc. Ost.,
Western Medical Acupuncture
Cert 4&5 Personal Trainer

Available in Wanaka

My interest in osteopathy and healthcare was sparked from a young age through injuries from equestrian sports and started in the UK, where I completed my sports massage qualifications and Bsc in Osteopathy where I worked with a range of patients including professional rugby teams and Crossfit athletes before moving to New Zealand.

Since then I have completed further study in Western Medical acupuncture and personal training/rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries. I also have a keen interest in women's health as well as treating the lower back, lower limb, hip, and knee injuries.

My treatment approach is primarily through structural methods such as rehabilitation advice, dry needling, soft tissue, joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, supportive taping with particular success in treating hip and pelvic pain as well as knee injuries, and repetitive strain/postural issues. I also strongly believe in the prescription of exercises and education to allow my patients to effectively manage their own health and wellbeing.

I have a big interest in sports, due to my background competing in international dressage in the UK. In my spare time, you can find me in the mountains! I love weightlifting, skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and all things adventure.

I love working within the health and wellness industry, alongside the ethos of care and attention to those in the community. This is how I approach my role as a clinic manager, giving care and attention to the Wanaka team and their patients.

I came to the clinic having had a 15 year career as a police officer (where I earned extreme skills in generally bossing people about) both in the North and South Islands, followed by running my own business for several years.

When not in the clinic you can find me studying towards my degree in Counselling, off for a run with our two dogs in tow, or if Im really lucky, under a shady tree with a good book.

Helena Kamioka

My interest from childhood in the connection between body and mind led me to the world of Acupuncture. In 2011, I graduated from Toyo Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine in Tokyo, Japan.

Aside from TCM Acupunture, I am specialised in pulse diagnosis and Teishin needles (non-penetrating acupuncture needles) as well as in 2019 becoming certified in Pelvic Alignment.

Prior to coming to New Zealand my partner and I had our own acupuncture clinic in Tokyo and in Chiba. My personal experience of becoming a mother of three children served a lot in treating pre and post maternity symptoms.

I treat people of all ages (including young children), for several kinds of symptoms such as chronic fatigue, stress based pain, autonomic nervous system balance, menopausal symptoms, sleep deprivation, depression and anxiety.

My treatment style is mild but effective, which is suitable for someone who likes acupuncture treatment but prefers not be needled, or who is afraid of needles.

The beautiful view of Queenstown makes me feel that I am a part of the nature, and gives me energy as well as sensitivity. I like walking and having a picnic with my family alongside the Lake Wakatipu on my days off.

Our Clinic Practice Managers

My journey into natural medicine began as an amalgamation of being innately curious to understand my own body and caring for those around me.

This led me to complete a four year degree at the New Zealand School of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine. I then continued to explore classical teachings at the International Oriental College in the Netherlands.

I value the place all modalities have in healing and particularly appreciate a consideration of each person as an integrated whole; the underlying causes of disease and the safe and effective pathways to achieve natural vitality, emotional well-being and freedom from pain.

I am passionate about helping aid musculoskeletal recovery, mental health conditions and autoimmune diseases.

I grew up on our family farm in Northland with my four brothers and sisters. I like spending my time in or on the water, finding beautiful places, being with friends/family, motorbiking and learning more about horticulture, sustainability, arts and yoga.
